Verses: John Hill, 2003
Chorus: Miguel Heatwole, 2020

Sometimes I ride a pushbike, sometimes I drive a car
I try to use my feet when I don't go very far
'Cause I think we make a difference no matter who we are
And they call me a ratbag greenie

Some friends of mine eat lentils, some friends of mine eat meat
Some are vegetarians and some eat chicken's feet
I'm concerned about the origins of the things I buy and eat
And they call me a ratbag greenie

Now there may be a heaven, there may be three or four
Some say they have seen the way, but others aren't so sure
Well I think there must be room down here for my beliefs and yours
And they call me a ratbag greenie

There’s going to be a rally. I reckon we should go
There’s a whole destructive system that we ought to overthrow
I might get a little noisy so everyone will know
That I’m proud to be a ratbag greenie

Well let’s talk about injustice and criminality
The sentence that I'd like to see be made mandatory
Starts with ‘sorry’ to the First Nations – with that I would agree
And they call me a ratbag greenie

The economic jargon from the T.V. every night
Hides a multitude of hardships and injustice from our sight
Everybody has the right to work and still be treated right
And they call me a ratbag greenie

By now you must be thinking “they haven't mentioned trees
They haven't sung of climate change or bio-diversity”
I think everything’s connected, and it's up to you and me
That's why I'm a ratbag greenie!

There’s going to be a rally
I reckon we should go
There’s a whole destructive system that we ought to overthrow
I might get a little noisy so everyone will know
That I’m proud to be a ratbag greenie
Yes I’m proud to be a ratbag greenie!
